SNR Single-Row Angular Contact Ball Bearings The inner and outer ring raceways of single-row angular contact ball bearings are offset with respect to each other. This design is particularly suitable for applications combining radial and axial loads. Depending on the series, the contact angle between balls and rings is variable to increase the axial load capacity of the bearings. This angle is 40° for normal precision bearings, and 30° for a few bearings.
Technical data:
- Metallic or synthetic material cage (maximum continuous operating temperature = 120°C).
- Large size bearings fitted with a machined brass cage.
- Normal clearance.
- Seal or baffle.
SNR Four-Point Contact Ball Bearings
Designed to sustain combined loading, SNR 4-point angular contact bearings are particularly suitable for axial loads in both directions. Of lower footprint than dual-row angular contact bearings, they sustain slightly inferior radial loading.
Although with a lower rotating speed limitation than radial contact bearings, four-point angular contact ball bearings provide very satisfactory performance. Thanks to their general characteristics, they are a perfect trade-off for all common applications requiring bearings likely to sustain combined loading.
Technical data:
- The cage is generally made of machined brass, centred on the inner or outer ring which makes the ball ring solid with the outer ring.
- Axial clearance is not standardised. Values are available from SNR, on request.
- Seal or baffle.

NTN Angular Contact Ball Bearings Manufactured by NTN to the same close tolerances as the radial type, but designed with contact angles of 15°, 30°, and 40° to accommodate greater thrust loads.
A common choice, at higher precision levels, for applications such as machine tool spindles where both accuracy and high thrust loads are present. They are typically mounted in pairs, providing thrust capacity in either direction and good rigidity for applications where shaft movement is critical.
Double row assemblies offer shaft rigidity, compactness, and higher radial capacity as well as moderate thrust capacity in both directions. Series: 7000, 7200, 7300, 3200, 3300, 5200, 5300 BNTO, BNTZ Size Range: 10 mm to 370 mm OD.
