These unit assemblies consist of a spherically ground inner ring housed in a mating spherical outer ring. There are no rolling elements.

Spherical plain bearings offer high capacity in a small envelope with the ability to accommodate moderate misalignment. They are ideal for low-frequency oscillating applications. Different designs are available for radial and single or double-direction axial loads.
