B-LOC Shrink Discs provide reliable, high strength keyless connections by converting locking screw clamp loads into radial contact pressures applied to the hub of the mounted component, in effect "shrinking" it onto the shaft. The resulting zero-backlash mechanical interference fit will accommodate high torque, thrust, bending and/or radial loads, and unlike other mounting technologies will never wear or pound out, even for high cycle fluctuating or reversing loads.
Proper selection for any application requires calculation of the peak torque or other load(s) to be transmitted; this value is compared to the Rated Torque Capacity Mt as listed in our Specification Tables and a Shrink Disc selected where Mt for the required shaft diameter is at least equal to - preferably greater than - the peak load. Note that each Shrink Disc size can accommodate a range of shaft sizes; torque capacities for shaft sizes between the min. and max. shaft diameter can be obtained by linear interpolation.
