Drawn Cup Needle Roller Bearings
Size Range Inch: 1/8 in. - 5-1/2 in. bore Metric: 3mm - 60mm bore
Drawn cup needle bearings are designed to support radial loads and reduce friction between rotating components. The low cross section of the drawn cup bearing provides maximum load-carrying capability with a minimum of space required. Drawn cup bearings are easily installed with a press fit in the housing. We offer a wide size range of standard inch and metric drawn cup bearings.

There are two basic designs: the full complement and the caged version. Both have a drawn outer shell which serves as a raceway for the rollers contained in the bearing. The full complement version has the maximum number of rollers mechanically retained by the drawn outer shell. This design combines high radial load-carrying capability with low cost. The standard caged version contains a one-piece steel cage to guide and retain the rollers. This design provides high speed and maximum lubricant retention capability.
Typical Applications
- Transmissions, transfer cases, engines and valve trains
- Steering and braking systems
- Axle support
- Outboard engines
- Power tools
- Copiers, fax machines, paper-moving equipment
- Appliances
Expanded Options
- Assemblies with bearings
- Engineered polymer cages
- Bearings with one or two seals
- Closed end bearings
- Oil holes
- Drawn sleeves

Radial Needle Roller Bearings and Cage Assemblies
Size Range 6mm - 150mm bore
Needle roller and cage assemblies consist of a complement of needle rollers held in place by a cage. With no inner or outer ring, the low cross section provides maximum load-carrying capability within the smallest envelope. The mating shaft and housing are normally used as inner and outer raceways.
The unitized design makes for easy handling and installation. Controlled contour rollers with an optimum profile reduce end stresses and allow operation under moderate misalignment. A variety of cage designs, styles and materials, as well as multiple roller paths and segmented construction, meet broad application requirements.
Typical Applications
- Automotive and truck transmissions (automatic and manual)
- Agricultural and construction equipment
- Two-cycle engines (marine outboards, lawn and garden equipment)
- Pumps and compressors
Additional options
- Special coatings and platings
- Split and segmented designs for simplified mounting
- Engineered polymer cages

Heavy Duty Needle Roller Bearings
Size Range Inch: 0.625 in. - 9.25 in. bore Metric: 5mm - 100mm bore
Heavy-duty needle roller bearings consist of a machined and ground channel-shaped outer ring with a complement of needle rollers retained and guided by a cage. The thick outer ring provides maximum load capacity and shock resistance with a relatively small radial cross section
With the high-strength cage retaining and guiding the rollers, this design provides high speed and lubrication retention capability. A lubrication groove and hole in the O.D. facilitate relubrication through the outer ring. These bearings can be used with or without a machined and ground inner ring depending on the suitability of the shaft as a raceway surface.
Typical Applications
Gear pumps
Sheaves
Automotive transmissions
Two-cycle engines
Additional Options
- Sealed bearings
- Mating inner rings

Drawn Cup Roller Clutches and Clutch Assemblies
Size Range Inch: 1/8 in. - 1 in. bore Metric: 4mm - 30mm bore
Drawn cup roller clutches are designed to transmit torque between the shaft and housing in one direction and allow free overrun in the opposite direction. When transmitting torque, either the shaft or the housing can be the input member. Precisely formed interior ramps provide surfaces against which the rollers wedge to positively transmit torque. Transition from overrun to lock normally occurs with minimal lost motion (backlash). Drawn cup roller clutches are offered as a clutch-only unit or as a clutch and bearing assembly. Clutch-only units should be used with external radial support to hold the shaft and housing concentrically and carry radial loads.
These designs utilize the same small radial section as drawn cup needle roller bearings. The units are compact, lightweight and operate directly on a hardened shaft. Proper mounting is easily accomplished with a simple press fit in the housing. Clutches and clutch and bearing assemblies are offered both in inch and metric nominal series.
Typical Applications
- Paper moving (copiers, fax machines, paper towel dispensers, etc.)
- Exercise equipment
- Appliances
- Two-speed gearboxes
- Rack indexing drives
Expanded Options
- Clutch/polymer housing assemblies
- High-volume special designs
